ReplyDeleteI really liked both articles, and how they’re related to what we’ll be learning this semester. I thought the Higgens article was really interesting, I like how he addresses crossing the line with all different mediums. Also, he talked about the whole “what is art” question, and that even bad art is art. I did however like the Duchamp article better, because he talks about trying to please the viewer, as opposed to doing what pleases the artist. It is true though how the audience has the final say in how the piece is understood. I struggle with this myself, as I’m constantly thinking how everyone will react when they see a piece I’ve created. These articles got me more excited about what we will be doing during the duration of the class.
